Wind Sensor In Irrigation Systems

Wind Sensor In Irrigation Systems

A wind sensor is a device that is connected to the irrigation controller and used to detect the speed and direction of wind. It is commonly used in irrigation systems and other outdoor applications to measure the wind conditions and adjust the irrigation schedule or shut off the system to prevent water waste and damage caused by high winds.
Wind sensors are an important part of a well-designed irrigation system, as they can prevent water waste and protect the system from damage caused by high winds. They are typically designed to be durable and weather-resistant, and they should be installed in an open area that is not blocked by trees or buildings to ensure accurate readings.
They can be used alone or combined with other local sensors, like rain, freeze or soil sensors.
Irrigation wind sensors consist of an anemometer for measuring the speed of the wind. The data collected by the wind sensor is used to determine whether or not irrigation should be allowed to continue based on the predetermined wind speed threshold. If the wind speed exceeds the threshold, the irrigation system will be shut off until the wind speed drops back down to a safe level.
Proper maintenance of the wind sensor is important to ensure accurate readings and prevent damage. The sensor should be inspected regularly for damage or debris that may affect its performance, and any necessary repairs or replacements should be made promptly.
